UK Greenpeace Chief Calls on Pachauri to Resign: Al Gore Still Silent Posted In: Global Warming

The London Times reports that John Sauven, the head of Greenpeace UK is demanding that Rajendra Pachauri resign as chairman of the IPCC.

As the director of Greenpeace UK puts it: “The IPCC needs to regain credibility. Is that going to happen with Pachauri [as chairman]? I don’t think so. We need someone held in high regard who has extremely good judgment and is seen by the global public as someone on their side.”

Read the whole thing. I’ve been hammered by environmentalists for saying exactly what John Sauven now says; I’m not holding my breath while waiting for the apologies.

Meanwhile, in the face of an increasing cascade of inconvenient truths, Al Gore remains silent.

Even the leadership of Greenpeace UK understands that low scientific standards and reckless disregard for the truth are destroying the credibility of the global warming community, and John Sauven has the courage and integrity to speak up about it.  Al Gore, who shared the Nobel Prize with Rajendra Pachauri and the increasingly discredited IPCC, has a special responsibility to environmentalists and others in the United States to clearly state that bad science and poor judgment have no place in the leadership of the movement to stop climate change.

Mr. Gore, it’s past time to speak up.

And humans can stop climate from changing … how ? You think that we can alter the earth’s rotational wobble, the sun’s output, etc the theorized cause of ice ages, etc or something ??? rofl

If one could say that AGW ever had any credibility, it’s toasted now regardless. Garbage in – garbage out. The whole of it a fiasco from the word go.

Welcome aboard the train of climate reality Mr Mead, a bit late but still helpful. The sooner this abject corruption of true scientific methods is completely investigated as well as the corrupted politics and policies are identified, we must not stop. The distortion of this fraud is not victimless, it has influenced elections, increased unneccessary taxation on poor and middleclas, increased global starvation due to food prices, increased the animosity of 3rd world countries toward the developed countries and has resulted in many, many other damages to prosperity and peace. Please keep the light shining on the AGW issue!

Is it really such a mystery that Algore is doing his level best to impersonate a piece of furniture during this discussion, when he may be one of the very few individuals with a greater personal economic stake in enviro-alarmism than Pachauri? Algore’s got a HUGE dog in this hunt, boys and girls, and if the game warden shows up and shoos everybody out of the woods guess what happens to Al’s treasured lifestyle (which requires more electricity in a month than the average family consumes in a year)?

Greenpeace is not calling for IPCC Chair’s resignation
There have been recent reports in the Indian press that Greenpeace has asked for Dr. Rajendra Pachauri, the Chair of the IPCC to resign. This is not true. Greenpeace is not calling for Dr. Pachauri’s resignation.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

PR Log (Press Release) – Feb 07, 2010 – Greenpeace is not calling for IPCC Chair’s resignation.

Attention: News Editors

New Delhi, February 6th – There have been recent reports in the Indian press that Greenpeace has asked for Dr. Rajendra Pachauri, the Chair of the IPCC to resign. This is not true. Greenpeace is not calling for Dr. Pachauri’s resignation. We believe the IPCC is an open and transparent organisation, and we trust it to manage itself. Pachauri and the IPCC obviously have made mistakes in handling this situation and should learn the necessary lessons.

Listed below are answers to some of the questions that you may immediately have.

Q. Is Greenpeace calling for Dr Pachauri to resign?

A. No. The IPCC is an open and transparent organisation, and we trust it to resolve these issues itself.

Q. Was John Sauven / Greenpeace UK calling for Dr Pachauri to resign?

A. John’s remarks were made at a reception and were part of a much longer conversation. What was reported in the Times does not reflect the totality of the conversation. The IPCC is an open and transparent organisation and Greenpeace trusts it to resolve these issues itself.

Q. Does Greenpeace have confidence in Dr Pachauri?

A. Yes. The IPCC is an open and transparent organisation and we trust it to resolve these issues itself.

Q. Does Greenpeace have confidence in the IPCC reports?

A. Yes. They are clear and transparent, and the evidence is overwhelming. In some areas the science has moved on. As an example, the Arctic is melting faster than the IPCC report predicted. The tipping points associated with methane release from Siberia and the deep oceans may be closer than we thought. These are facts that make taking action essential.
