We were attacked for a variety of reasons, one of those is the current foreign policy. I think the main reason is that the US and Western Civilization is seen as a threat to Islam and the radical clerics want to destroy that culture. They see women walking and even "gasp" driving, people not praying to Allah and it drives them insane. So much so, that they indoctorinate their young into killing the non-believers. The truth is that there are Muslims whose sole purpose in life is to kill non-believers, therefore, 9-11 may be the first of many attacks against us. It won't matter what our foreign policy is, saying"please like us" won't work with fanatics. Defend yourself or die. It is as simple as that. I for one will defend my family. If you want to lay down and die for being an "infidel" and blaming our foreign policies, I feel sorry for your family.

I am disappointed each day while view C-SPAN that the callers do not ask "Why were we attacked on 9-11?" I realize our govenment and our mainstream pundits claim it was because of our democracy; our humane treatment accorded to women; our wealth, etc. But many other nations having such virtues and benefits were not attacked. Osama addressed this question in one of his videos in which he seemed to justify it, "It's your foreign policies, stupid." Four decades ago we waged war upon Vietnam, a small nation which had never done us any harm. We still do not have an accurate count on how many of their citizens died in the war we launched against them. Some have said it was two million, others three million. But the Vietcong never attempted to retaliate against us here on our own turf. Perhaps if they had done so Washington would surely have used nukes to respond. But Osama did succeed in his attack on the Tuesday, September 11th morning in
2001 and, strange to say, few Americans knew why he did so. Those of us who served in
world War 2 knew our enemies were legitimate, functioning nations with which we could negotiate a truce if we so desired or accept their surrender, as we later did. No such options exist when fighting Osama's globally dispersed religious zealots which had a pool of some billion plus adherents to draw recruits willing to die when fighting us. Thanks to the splendid research resources available on the web we know the agenda of those who started this perpetual, unwinnable war and that too is a subject few Americans wish to mention.
